Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or Library Science from a recognised university.
• Basic computer knowledge as per Gujarat Civil Services Rules.
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
• Computer knowledge may be through:
  – Computer Diploma/Degree/Certificate
  – Computer as a subject in 10th/12th/Degree
  – Certificate from recognised training institute
• Candidates without a computer certificate can apply but must submit one before appointment.
• Citizenship: Indian citizen or nationality as per Rule-7 of Gujarat Civil Services Rules.

Selection Process

• MCQ Based online/OMR competitive examination.
• Exam conducted in two parts (combined duration 3 hours):
• Part-A (60 Marks)
  – Reasoning & Data Interpretation: 30 marks
  – Quantitative Aptitude: 30 marks
• Part-B (150 Marks)
  – Constitution, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension: 30 marks
  – Technical Qualification & Application-based Questions: 120 marks
• Total Questions: 210
• Negative Marking: 1/4 per wrong answer
• Minimum Qualifying: 40% in Part-A and Part-B
• Exam Language: Gujarati & English
• Final merit based on written exam score.

Pay Scale / Salary

• Library Clerk (Class-3)
  – First 5 Years: Rs. 26,000/- (Fixed Pay)
  – After 5 Years: Rs. 19,900/- to Rs. 63,200/- (Level-2)
• Assistant Librarian (Class-3)
  – First 5 Years: Rs. 26,000/- (Fixed Pay)
  – After 5 Years: Rs. 25,500/- to Rs. 81,100/- (Level-4)
• Other benefits as per government resolutions.
